Pathfinder is a motion detecting smart LED Guidance System developed in CAS-781 “Mobility in the Aging Population” (Part 2)
In this unique course, 8 students from and 6 co-designers worked together to build prototypes and algorithms to address mobility challenged faced by older adults.
Group 1 (Guha, Jessica, Fiona, Dennis and Len) designed a modularized and customizable night light system to help older adults to navigate indoor environments at night (See demo video).
Group 2 (Alireza, Monica, Margaret, and Peter) developed a low-cost smart pillbox to improve medication adherence among older adults. The pillbox features one light for each slot and a button for user press. Medication types and schedules are programmable via software.
Group 3 (Zaryan, Abu, Yujiao, Bob and Al) designed a signal process algorithms and a machine learning model to predict fallers and non-fallers based on gait information collected from IMU sensors.
